Raised in Atlanta by a family of Savannah natives, this former New York model recently returned to her roots to mentor emerging artists.
Talking Shop: “Terra Cotta reminds me of Atlanta and New York. I find the most beautiful, unusual pieces there. And the shoes! Those designs can’t be found anywhere else in Savannah.”
Designing Woman: “I love Free People as much for the name as for their Bohemian style. And Romeo and Juliet Couture — the style is all in the name: romantic, flowing tops and sexy skirts and pants. Others I love are Jigsaw, Laundry and anything from Anthropologie.”
Signature Pieces: “Hoop earrings are my trademark. Just the other day I had a serious talk with myself and admitted I have an earring fetish. Are there support groups for that?”
Style Icons: “I love Gwyneth Paltrow and Mischa Barton, but I’m inspired most by international travel. I’ve found beautiful jade necklaces in China, hand-woven painted sandals in Costa Rica and silk dresses in Brazil.”
Preferred Holiday Trend: “I love what every woman loves about cool weather: beautiful boots!”
Splurge: “I’ll spend my last dime on a facial, especially in winter when the air is dry. In my line of work, camera-ready skin is essential.”
Steal: “I hate to give up my secret, but World Market has the coolest, most affordable accessories, from earrings, bracelets and necklaces to wool hats and hand-woven scarves.”
Favorite Jewelry: “I never take off my bracelet: an Armani Exchange skinny silver chain with a jade cross.
Best Fashion Advice Received: “Because I was a tomboy, my mother always said, ‘A little lace with the denim, dear.’ I hated lace at the time, but it’s a great look for today!”
On Savannah Style: “When I introduce friends to Savannah, they all say the same thing: ‘Savannah is such a romantic town.’ And the SCAD kids bring the flavor. When I’m walking near my Starland office, the fashion I see reminds me so much of my days in Greenwich Village.”
Beauty Must-Have: “I love the Arbonne RE:9 Anti-Aging set. Those who use it know why.”
Her Holiday Tradition: “On Thanksgiving, my father and I go to breakfast early while the rest of the house is asleep. This is his time to give me life tips and advice on dating. Most of all, I enjoy the quality time with the kindest man I know.”
