“Ruby” has a new pair of trainers. Tina Crim gets the scoop on Drew and Shazia Edmonds of Train Me 24/7, Savannah’s fitness experts to the star.
LOCAL FITNESS TRAINERS Drew and Shazia Edmonds exercise their passion for health daily by helping individual Savannahians attain their fitness goals. But as the official trainers for Savannah native Ruby Gettinger, star of the Style Network’s hit reality show “Ruby,” they can now help shape the attitudes of millions of television viewers.
The pair joins the program in its second season, as Ruby, once over 500 pounds, works her way down toward the 300-mark with grace and determination.
Ruby met a variety of different trainers and fitness experts,” said Drew. “We connected immediately. We believe with every fiber of our being that we were meant to meet her and help her on the journey. We are truly living our dream, impacting lives one crunch, squat and push-up at a time!”

Facing a weight loss challenge of your own? Drew and Shazia Edmonds offer these slimming tips.
Start Small and Steady
“Replace soft drinks and coffee with water, start walking each night after work instead of immediately hitting the couch and eat a serving of veggies instead of pasta. A few small steps now can lead to huge strides just down the road!”
Build Strength and Endurance
“Ruby’s body, like most others, responds well to plenty of cardiovascular activity in conjunction with two to three days of resistance training per week. We recommend at least five days of cardio, ranging from 20-45 minutes per session. Her resistance training includes light to moderate lifting with a range of 10-30 reps, depending on the workout.”
Mix Up Your Routine
“We change the workouts each and every session to prevent plateaus, complacency and boredom. We also offer something unique in that we are tag-team trainers.” Shazia will spend 10 minutes teaching a dance, then Drew will spend 10 minutes teaching a boxing lesson; Shazia will work on abs, then Drew works on resistance training. “This keeps each workout fresh and exciting.”
