Is crowdsourcing the new adventure capital?  Meet a band of Savannah entrepreneurs and visionaries who’ve invested in their dreams through the revolutionary fundraising website, Kickstarter.  They’re changing the face of business in Savannah. 

  

The CHOCOLATE LAB: Kelly Spivey    NEIGHBORHOOD: Eastside                IDEA: Organic, local chocolate bars   WHY HERE? “I came to be a part of the great things happening in Savannah.”   GOAL: $9,750    RAISED: $9,838 PERCENTAGE OF GOAL MET: 101   ONE THING THAT SHOULDN’T BE CROWD-SOURCED: “Don Draper’s Guide to a Successful Marriage.”

 

The WORLD’S GREATEST “BACKPACK”: Jamie Bowerman       NEIGHBORHOOD: Historic District  IDEA: A three-in-one backpack   WHY HERE? “The culture in Savannah is right.”   GOAL: $8,000   RAISED: $8,881 PERCENTAGE OF GOAL MET: 111   ONE THING THAT SHOULDN’T BE CROWD-SOURCED: “Mad scientists’ experiments.”

 

THE FRENCH TOASTERS:  Wes Batts and Dan Dittman              NEIGHBORHOOD: Downtown   IDEA: Uniquely designed coasters    WHY HERE?  “Testing the entrepreneurial waters.”   GOAL: $3,000  RAISED: $5,596 PERCENTAGE OF GOAL MET: 187   ONE THING THAT SHOULDN’T BE CROWD-SOURCED:  “Design.”

 

The “MURACLE” ON 34TH STREET: Matt Hebermehl of SeeSAW     NEIGHBORHOOD: Downtown   IDEA:  A series of murals that promotes Savannah as an art destination   WHY HERE?  “Why not?”   GOAL:  $5,000   RAISED:  $7,095 PERCENTAGE OF GOAL MET:  142   ONE THING THAT SHOULDN’T BE CROWD-SOURCED:  “Used toothbrushes.”

 

“PUT YOUR 5S UP!”: Leslie Adele    NEIGHBORHOOD: Georgetown               IDEA: Recording A Nickel Bag of Funk’s first full-length studio album   WHY HERE? “Savannah will always be home.”  GOAL: $5,000  RAISED: $6,050 PERCENTAGE OF GOAL MET: : 121  ONE THING THAT SHOULDN’T BE CROWD-SOURCED:  “Religion.”
